Absolutely love my new AD/thermal pro fusion hoodie! It's exactly what I hoped it would be - something that adds some comfort/coziness over pure AD, adds some wind protection without another layer, but retains the magic of AD that keeps it light and breathable. Nailed it on all fronts! Large is definitely large (might have been ok with a medium instead), but not in any problematic way. Looking forward to seeing what new things you come up with!

Speaking of clothing, in today's highly industrialized world, it's very satisfying to see Justin create such successful niche products by hand. This garment is impeccably designed. As an Asian male standing at 5'10" and weighing 135 lb, opting for size S fits me perfectly. The sleeve length and overall fit are just right, which is quite rare. The material of Alpha Direct 90 is a well-balanced choice for outdoor wear, providing excellent insulation despite its lightweight. The vibrant color scheme and personalized touch enhance its fashion appeal. For me, it's a garment I can't get enough of.
Additionally, Justin is incredibly attentive. He promptly responds to emails and addresses any concerns you may have. I hope he continues to create even better products.
The proof will be when I am on the PCT in April but the hoodie arrived within the time frame promised. Fit is great. It is light weight and not to be used as an out layer without some protection . Looking forward to using this on the trail.
I actually picked up a FarPointe hoodie a couple weeks ago, which is perfectly fine. This one is just nicer with the snaps, shock cords, and the elastic in the wrists. I will definitely keep my eye open for future offerings!

My first alpha direct product, and I’m completely satisfied. I gave my specifications (I’m tall and lean) for the custom hoodie, and it fits perfectly. The garment seems to be more durable than I expected. I think I’m going to wear it in everyday life, and on the trail!
This hoody is surprisingly warm compared to how light it is! Love the collar design! I went to Amicalola this past weekend for AT Gateways. Wore my new hoody and did a little hiking up Springer. Definitely my new favorite hiking hoody!
Just got my hoodie today, and it is well crafted and fits great! I’m really excited to get out there and test it out.
As I write this I am wearing an Alpha Direct Rip-Back hoodie. It breathes perfectly, is remarkably light and provides a significant amount of warmth. I live and play in the Sonoran desert and this is the perfect warming layer. Even a very light shell to block the wind and the R factor is greatly increased.
Bought my Alpha Direct to take on the Appalachian trail! Customer service is phenomenal. I reached out about sizing and the amount of time to get it to me - as I am running out of time before I hit the trail. They were right on the sizing and had my hoodie just over a week! Also, I’m loving the length of this hoodie, as it is long enough to give my bum some coverage as well!
I’ve worn it hiking, camping, running, and even around the house. Warm when it needs to be but breathes so as to not get over heated. Super versatile. Super lightweight. Great customer service. What are you waiting for?!
Fit on this hoodie is perfect for a mid layer and it’s super comfortable and surprisingly warm. Had a chance to use it a few times on backpacking trips and it has found a permanent home in my pack. Great product and great customer service coming out of BTT!
My wife loves this hoodie under any other layer. Fit and finish is awesome and the hood provides many possibilities. Excellent sewing.
I got this for my husband and he loves it! We spend a lot of time hiking and trail running, and he loves the material. We had shipping issues at first and Justin sent us a replacement hoodie when the first one got lost in the system.
Ordered the standard Alpha 90 hoodie a couple months ago. There was a slight error in the custom sizing I had ordered, but Justin was great with a free return label and had a new hoodie in my hands in a couple weeks. Love the hoodie and wouldn't hesitate to buy more gear from BTT.
This hoodie is very warm for its weight in addition to having nice features, including the neck gaiter and kangaroo pocket. Definitely a nice piece of gear that I highly recommend.

Justin worked with me on getting the right fit. Allowed me to return for a size that fit and tailored it to my needs(L hood on size M). I'm in-between a M and L - I'm short(5'7") with a broad back. I initially went with a L. It was too big. Returned it for a M - the fit is comfortable. I will continue purchasing from here.
I ordered a couple hoodies and was concerned they were not going to arrive before I was leaving the address so provided and Justin promptly replied to both of my emails and assured arrival before my departure. I had ordered a XXL for my 6’3” son and have bought other Alpha Direct products from others but Beyond the Trail were one of the few that even had a XXL and it was proper size (other brands seem to run small). Lastly, the Navy is an awesome color! Thanks Justin!
This is, by far, the best base layer I own. The sizing and fit is perfect for me, it is not too slim and form fitting. It is comfortable to wear as the base of a layering system, or as standalone shirt.
The construction and sewing is perfect. The hood/balaclava marriage works great, especially as a hammock camper. Justin, the owner, responded quickly about a concern of mine and worked with me on a special request which just made the hoodie that much better for me.
If you understand the benefits and limitations of the alpha fabric itself, then this is the perfect use of the fabric and I couldn't be happier with the product.
